Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Opening Date Announced at Dedication

On May 2, 2014, a short dedication ceremony was held for the long-awaited Seven Dwarfs Mine Train attraction at the Walt Disney World Resort’s Magic Kingdom park. Walt Disney World Parks and Resorts Chairman Tom Staggs announced that the “crowning jewel” of New Fantasyland, the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train opening date will officially be May 28.

Of course, The Seven Dwarfs and Snow White were there to celebrate this special occasion, too. After Staggs said some words about the innovative new ride system of the family-friendly attraction, he [finally!] announced the grand opening date and made a comment [joke?] about not wanting to wait that long either. Was that a jab at Imagineering for taking so long to complete it? It’s not like he has to wait until the 28th! I’m going to go with the assumption that he’s just eager to see guest reactions at this point.

Fittingly, a special golden ax was on hand just when one was needed.

It was used jointly by Dopey and Snow White on special rock that triggered effects including twinkling “diamonds” within that rock as well as a launch of some diamond shaped confetti! So fun! (yes, I took home a few pieces)

This all took place on a small stage that was very well themed and surprisingly detailed for the short ceremony. By the way, the ceremony was broadcast online via the Disney Parks Blog too, so if even if you weren’t invited to be there, you could watch along from home.

The entire ceremony lasted only a few minutes, but I was so glad to be there! It was fun, clever and very cute — much like those lovable dwarfs!
