First Look at New Disney’s Polynesian Bungalows

Today is a dreary day in Central Florida, but it’s still a great one in our book! We got a first look at the not-yet-open to the public Bungalows at Disney’s Polynesian Villa and Bungalows!

We will put up as many photos as we can now and come back to fill in the details later, so check back here for updates.

To start off, here’s a look at the floor plan in the Bungalows. Unfortunately, this plan is a mirror of the unit we photographed, so everything was reversed from what you see here.

Poly Bungalow Floor Plan

Bungalow Basics

Located over the Seven Seas Lagoon in front of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, each Bungalow sleeps up to eight guests in a two-bedroom, home-like setting. The Bungalows have two full bathrooms, a kitchen, washer and dryer, and dining and living room spaces for gatherings. Private decks feature a plunge pool where guests can view fireworks over the Magic Kingdom, complete with the soundtrack that can be heard through an individual sound system. They will also have front-row seats to the Electrical Water Pageant, a playful nighttime water parade in the Seven Seas Lagoon.

The photo below shows the view as you look back towards the main entry door. We love the wood on the ceiling! It’s beautiful and natural material look keeps you in the story of being inside a “hut.” PolynesianBungalows-80

The first bedroom you encounter is the smaller (second) bedroom. This bedroom has a queen-sized bed and a pull-down bunk-size bed.PolynesianBungalows-22 PolynesianBungalows-24PolynesianBungalows-83PolynesianBungalows-22

There is also a bench window seat, which faces toward the Poly Resort.PolynesianBungalows-26There is a nice sized closet with built-ins and drawers, too.

Master Bedroom and Master Bath

As you continue down the hall way, you come to the Master bedroom on the opposite side. The bed here is a King-sized bed.

There is a small desk space and some drawers in the room as well.PolynesianBungalows-59 There is an exit door on the Master bedroom that takes you out to the deck. You’ll find two hanging chairs right outside, but you can also make your way around to the main deck area.PolynesianBungalows-60

The Master Bedroom is a suite with a private bathroom. This Master Bath has dual sinks, a full tub, a glass shower, and a water closet, which houses the toilet. You’ll notice in the photo below, there are small windows that will add lots of natural light on sunny days. Plus, there is a hidden TV in the mirror.

If we move back out to the main hallway, we come to the main bathroom. As shown below, the bathroom doors are on sliders.PolynesianBungalows-72The closets, however, are bi-folds. Below you can see doors to another closet and the laundry area, which are in a hallway that leads to the main bath.

The deck and pool will offer stunning views on a more typical Florida sunshine-y day.PolynesianBungalows-39

There is the castle and Space Mountain in the distance. While touring, a short fireworks burst from the Magic Kingdom Park welcome show went off. They could still be seen despite the weather conditions. It will be incredible exciting to be in a Bungalow during fireworks, especially special shows that use the perimeter fireworks! PolynesianBungalows-38

Overall Impression of Disney Polynesian Bungalows

While the units are large compared to other hotel rooms, the living room and kitchen felt much smaller than we expected from the concept photos. The living space on the deck makes up for that a little bit, but when it’s “Florida hot” in the summer, we’d bet most people will want to be either in that plunge pool or inside.

The decor is wonderfully done throughout the unit, and the spaces have smart designs that really make great use of the space. The pull-down beds are just one example. Others include the hidden drawers in the closets, window seats, and split bathrooms.

One of the biggest highlights of the Bungalows is the private deck with plunge pool and lounge furniture. Imagine sitting on your private deck or in the pool while watching fireworks above Cinderella Castle directly across the Lagoon. Wow!

Our number one concern about these units is the noise. Having been disturbed many times by the extremely loud horns on the Disney transportation boats while staying in Tokelau, we can’t imagine staying in one of these units so close to the boats. (Heck, those boat horns can sometimes be heard loud and clear at our home 4 miles away!)  We learned the first three units closest to TTC are completely soundproofed (presumably due to the proximity of the ferry boats), but the others are not. A boat passed while we were on the deck filming and we jumped. It’s loud. So are the fireworks. If you plan to stay here and want to sleep during any hours that resort boat transportation is running, be sure to pack ear plus!

Aside from the noise, these Bungalows have the potential to be “dream” resort rooms for guests visiting Walt Disney World. Beware, they are priced accordingly! Remember, there are only 20 of them, and 10 are allocated to DVC use, so get ready to spend a pretty penny on them. Expect to pay between $2100 and $2900 per night, depending on season — that’s before tax!. In terms of DVC points, you are looking at 115 – 227 per night! Wow!

What do you think of the Bungalows? Are they on your Disney bucket list?
